SOLSTICE Project

Cromogenia Units participates in SOLSTICE, a European collaborative project aimed at accelerating the transition toward a more sustainable, circular, and climate-neutral textile industry. SOLSTICE brings together key stakeholders across the entire textile and plastics value chain with the objective of transforming the management of post-consumer textile waste, promoting advanced recycling and its reintroduction as raw materials into new production cycles. Through technological innovation, traceability, and new valorisation models, the project seeks to convert waste into high value-added resources.

Development of innovative rPolyols and rCoatings

As part of a consortium of 24 European partners, Cromogenia Units plays a strategic role in the development of innovative rPolyols and rCoatings, formulated using monomers and oligomers obtained through an advanced and eco-efficient chemical recycling process of previously sorted post-consumer textiles.

This approach enables:

  • Reduced dependence on virgin raw materials

  • Valorisation of textile waste by transforming it into new products

  • Lower environmental impact associated with textile production

  • Promotion of circular economy models within the sector

By integrating recycled raw materials into high-performance chemical specialties, we contribute to closing the textile production loop without compromising quality or technical performance.

A European project with real impact

Launched in 2024 and with a duration of 42 months, SOLSTICE is being implemented across several European Union countries under a comprehensive strategy based on the 5R model: Refuse/Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Repurpose, and Recycle.

The project includes demonstration activities in different European regions to validate scalable circular solutions, as well as initiatives aimed at:

  • Improving textile sorting and recycling systems

  • Implementing the Digital Product Passport to ensure raw material traceability

  • Providing data and tools to support informed decision-making

  • Increasing awareness of sustainability within the textile sector
